What I didn't mention yet about my evening in York is that we went to a bar having an open mic after the Evil Eye, and I thought I could hold my own on the stage... Oh yes, not a good idea after you've had a couple beers and haven't practiced/played in months/years! I got up on stage to play 'Angel from Montgomery' and of course forgot the chord changes (I know Dmitry, they're not very hard! But I was pretty tired). Luckily there was a girl who eagerly wanted to go next and I left the stage without launching into a half-baked attempt. Oh well! I'll have to redeem myself sometime soon!
Dana and I had a great day yesterday walking the city wall, climbing up to the top of York Minster, and going for fish & chips. We took the train together all the way from York, England past Edinburgh, Scotland. The train ride took us along the East coast, past towns that I'll be traveling through on my bike ride from Glasgow to Edinburgh to Newcastle. The coastline is gorgeous! Saw Durham castle and enjoyed having such a great tour guide (thanks Dana!). Dana got off the train at Linlithgow and I continued to Glasgow.
On my walk from the train station to the hostel, I saw a lot of 16-25 year-olds. I was surprised when I checked into my hostel last night and found most of the girls in my 12 person dorm still sleeping. Around 9:30, they all woke up, got dolled up, and left. My impression so far is that Glasgow seems to be a party town! I'm spending the entire day walking around, so we'll see if there's more to the city. Well, off I go!

Today was a nice change of pace from my typically sightseeing jaunts. I took the red tour bus around Glasgow and learned a little bit of everything about the place. I then went coat shopping, thinking i needed an extra one, but decided against it. Instead, I went to see Sex and the City 2 - just what I needed!

Just checking up on you! Sounds like you are having a wonderful time - I love reading about your travels. Wish I was there! Love, Mom
